Accredited Training Programmes

In accordance with section 118(a) of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the Psychologists Board is required to prescribe the qualifications required for scopes of practice within the profession, and, for that purpose, to accredit and monitor educational institutions and degrees, courses of studies, or programmes.

The Board currently monitors nineteen courses of study at seven educational organisations, plus two agencies that provide supervision-to-registration schemes. The Board’s Accreditation Committee oversees most of its accreditation activities.

Applications for accreditation are reviewed by an expert assessment team appointed for that purpose. The Board greatly appreciates the willingness of senior academics and practitioners to serve on assessment teams, thereby ensuring that New Zealand’s training programmes are producing graduates who are competent to practise.
